Production blog: editing

Image
Hi blog! Production is done and now we are focused on the editing aspect of this project. I do a lot of the editing for this project. I am used to using these platforms so it is not a struggle. I first began with editing the scenes together. The scenes were all filmed in order so it was easy to do this. Before adding the scenes in I had to decide which takes we would use in our sequence. We filmed a lot. After adding in the scenes I started to look at which effects would work. The seamless animations would blend the scenes together. It would make it smoother. It would make the transition less awkward. After choosing which effects I wanted to use I added them in. I used CapCut to add the videos together. I used video star to add in the effects. Both platforms are incredibly useful and they have helped us through this project. My teammates helped with some of the editing too. I am going to finish editing it finally soon. I still have to choose whether or not I want to implemen

Production blog: wrapping up

Image
Hi blog! We are wrapping up our final scenes and I am excited to be done with filming. I want to see our final product. We have already chosen what music we want to use. We also have decided on what editing platforms we will be using. Each of us have done a good portion of editing and filming. For these last scenes it was not as hard as the first ones. Each of us knows what to do and how to  do it. We each have roles in this sequence and we have learned them throughout the filming journey. Juggling a project like this and filming is hard but we managed to do it all. These scenes were very suspenseful and they required more energy. I am glad that each of us have became more comfortable with filming. I had to take a few breaks in between filming to finish an assignment. This inconvenience did not set us back though. We did manage to finish filming and we all were happy to go home. Getting our well deserved rest was important to the each of us. Tomorrow I am going to begin edi

Production blog: filming scenes 10-13

Image
Hi blog! We are almost done with filming. We filmed scenes 10-13. Thankfully we are on schedule still. There have been little setbacks that did not stop production all together. So we got to filming more scenes today. In total we had gotten to filming at least 8 scenes of our sequence. This is amazing progress and hopefully we keep it up. The more we filmed together the more we got comfortable. This made production nice and easy because even if we were stressed we all had it in common. I filmed some scenes but I also made an appearance in a scene too. Being behind the camera is easier than being in front of it. Each of us wants to try our hardest to get it right the first time and this keeps us determined. Scheduling is going great and production is too. We have gotten to editing a few scenes. Since we are in time we can make sure our scenes are not too flawed. That all I have written for today! Bye!

Production blog: filming scenes 6-9

Image
Hi blog! My team and I filmed a good portion of scenes recently. Gladly we got a lot of work done! We filmed scenes 6, 7, 8, and 9 for our opening sequence. These scenes were filmed on time and in an orderly manner. Due to this my team and I saved a lot of time. I got to cram a last minute assignment in later in the week because we filmed on time. When we film on schedule we can all easily manage our time better. In the time we filmed the scenes were difficult. There were mistakes made and a lot of refilming scenes. I reminded myself to be patient. Progress is progress and we were still getting work done. No matter how frustrated we got, we continued to film. I ended up taking a break and getting some rest. By the time I got back everyone was ready to continue filming. As we filmed, I held the camera a lot of the time. My hands were shaky so I had to keep the camera and shot still. There is still a bit of a natural pan in a scene or two. The photo above is an example of pan

Production blog: filming scenes 3-5

Image
Hi blog! We filmed again and it has been a long and tiring day. As we began filming I looked over what I had to do in the scenes I appeared in. In these scenes there is not much action so I did not have to use much of my energy. Of course I still ended up tired. In these scenes the story is beginning to be established. My character is the antagonist of the sequence, I am who the mystery revolves around. Since this is the opening sequence the mystery will of course never be solved. It will still be explored though. As we filmed we all began progressively getting more and more tired. We all have been busy with school and work. So we just wanted to film and go home and rest. Me and my teammates filmed and watched our work and we decided that it was time to go home. For scene 3-5 it was very easygoing and smooth. The photo above is an example of an antagonist. He was the antagonist from marvels black panther. This is all I have for now, bye!

Production blog: filming with team!

Image
Hey blog! We began filming and while we had a few set backs it still went smoothly. Our original plan was to begin filming on February 15th, but things came up. My group mates all live a bit far away so each of us have to plan out days carefully. My teammates all understand the importance of projects like this so we all agreed that we would begin filming very soon. So instead of February 15th, we filmed on February 18th. The 3 day difference did not set us back much and everyone was able to catch up on work in those 3 days. On February 18th we filmed. We all used our iPhone camera and not a filming camera due to convenience. There are a lot of shots that I captured that do not have anyone in These shots were filmed so we could have filler footage in between scenes. The sequence is not long but we did not want scenes back to back. This was the first day of our filming process and we did our best to get as much as we could from it. The use of our iPhone camera allowed us to keep track

Production blog: editing plans

Image
Hey blog! I began editing some practice clips. I used video star and CapCut. Both platforms are easy to use. They have free effects that make the editing process smoother. My team and I will be using simple effects for this sequence. It is a simple opening sequence and it does not necessarily need extravagant effects. As I looked into different effects I realized this. Our sequence could be a reality for some people, and in order to keep the audience entertained we need simple and smooth effects. There are effects like a simple fade out and fade in. They create a smooth transition between scenes. There are also effects that u can add after filming like panning. You can also add flickers in to create suspense for a scene. To also add to the suspense of the sequence you can create a coloring for the sequence. For films like twilight, the coloring is essential to the story. Twilight has a dark and blue coloring throughout the film. It kept my eyes on the screen throughout the whole fil

Production blog: music choices

Image
Hey blog! We began searching for our music choices. Originally I wanted to use a song from an artist that we all loved. The process of getting the rights was much longer than anticipated. In result of this, went down a different path. We began to search for music that did not need rights to be used. We went on a search for non-royalty music. We needed to keep our genre in mind. It is mystery, so we need to look for music that brings up a mysterious feeling. I searched platforms like Apple Music and Spotify. I ended up finding faster results on YouTube. Youtube provided quick and fast results when I went to search for non royalty music. I also wanted to look for sound effects. The camera that we use is not made for picking up small sounds. The sound effects will be used to amplify what is happening in the scenes. They can be used to display emotions such as terror, anger, and sadness. The search for the music is still ongoing. We are still deciding on what music we should use sinc
